This self-access class covers a number of physical conditions which cause genital pain and dyspareunia. What is known about the aetiology, how conditions present, the findings on examination and how they are treated. Particular attention will be paid to the psychological impact, how psychosexual issues may influence some conditions and the impact of those conditions on sex, relationships and mental well-being.
Psychosexual and Relationship Therapists will learn about physical conditions which cause genital pain, diagnosis , management, effect on sexual activity.

About the Trainer
Dr Jillian Pritchard trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in order to obtain post graduate membership qualification then trained in Genitourinary Medicine at King’s College and St. Mary’s Hospitals being involved in HIV care from the earliest days.
Since 1990 consultant at St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey where I learned from Dr Sallie Neill about genital dermatology. That work grew and when changes in commissioning for GU Medicine/HIV resulted in my clinic being closed 5 years ago I was incorporated into the Gynaecology department to continue the work in genital dermatology and pain.
Inevitably if a service is provided it will grow and as it grows expertise is developed. Collaboration with the Women’s Health Physiotherapy team has allowed their service to grow and us to provide a more holistic approach to management with better outcomes. The psychosexual element of care has patchy provision due to commissioning gaps.
