This training will help Psychosexual and Relationship therapists understand more about the variations in the male anatomy, learn about infections and how they are acquired and affect relationships physically and mentally. Similarly, it will help therapists learn more about skin conditions, their triggers, how behaviours might help or hinder and how they can assist with improving a couple’s relationship and sexual function. Therapists can encourage clients to seek treatment particularly if they understand the principles of treatment and can guide, reassure and encourage through treatment process.
This training will include:
- Male genitalia-what is normal, male perception, female perception of normality
- Description of conditions affecting male genital tract which may in turn affect sexual function
- Cover infections both sexually and non sexually acquired with information on presentation, treatment, direct and indirect effects on sexual function and relationships past and present
- Male genital skin conditions including warts, herpes simplex, lichen sclerosus, lichen planus, psoriasis
- Pain related conditions including male dysaesthesia

About the Trainer
Dr Jillian Pritchard, MA FRCOG DCH is a Consultant in Genitourinary Medicine and Sexual Health, practising at Spire Gatwick Park Hospital.
She currently runs clinics for genital dermatology , genital pain and other conditions no longer managed in Sexual Health.
Dr Pritchard qualified from Somerville College Oxford in 1975 having completed clinical training at King’s College Hospital, London. She undertook training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Hammersmith and John Radcliffe Hospital Oxford before pursuing a career in GUM and completing registrar and senior registrar posts respectively at King’s College and St Mary’s Hospitals London.
Screening and managing genital infections is a major part of her work and includes vaginal discharge, genital pain, dyspareunia as well as chronic candida and recurrent herpes and urethritis.
