A well thought out contract helps protect the public, sets the boundaries under which therapy is offered and protects therapists in the event of a complaint.
Having a comprehensive contract, one that both provides safety for Psychosexual and Relationship Therapists and Service Users, is maybe not seen as a high priority. But is should be and it should rank alongside robust insurance as one of the most important and essential foundations of practice.
How often do you think about your therapy contract? Do you go back to it on a regular basis to see if it is still fit for purpose and needs modification, or is it one of those things you do once and then consider it done?
Key elements of this training include:
- Reviewing what the essential components of a contract are and why they are needed.
- Looking at the intricacies of contracting around confidentiality for Service Users.
- Exploring the tools and information necessary to review the efficacy of a contract and to update it.
