The session offers a detailed insight into the contemporary definition of GSRD. It provides participants with an opportunity to update their knowledge on some of the current terms that Service Users may use to describe their sexual and relationship orientations. Core elements of the training include:
- An update of the contemporary language of gender, sexuality and relationship diversity.
- Common assumptions to avoid.
- Therapist’s awareness of their blind spots in relation to the GSRD community.
- The specificities of working with the GSRD community.
About the Presenter
Silva Neves is a COSRT-Accredited and UKCP-registered Psychosexual and Relationship Therapist, a Trauma Psychotherapist and an EMDR Practitioner. He is a Pink Therapy Clinical Associate. Silva specialises in working with sexual trauma and compulsive sexual behaviours. He works extensively with the LGBTQ community. Outside practice he is a Course Director for CICS (Contemporary Institute of Clinical Sexology), member of the editorial board for the leading international journal Sex and Relationship Therapy. Silva is the author of Compulsive Sexual Behaviours, A Psycho-Sexual Treatment Guide for Clinicians (2021, Routledge).
